Thanks to your generosity we have been able to place about 100 bibles!
From: The IYM Board of Directors: Greetings friends and loyal supporters of the ministry! As many of you know in May of this year we doubled our services to the incarcerated youth we serve and we are ‘on site’ a minimum of twice each week at the centers bringing chaplain visits (each week) and bible study or worship services (alternate weeks-one each week-each center). Worship services and bible studies must be presented twice each night of occurrence (back to back) due to ‘no inmate congregation’ laws in effect. Back in 2007 we received 2 large donations from area churches. We used the monies to purchase a wonderful student study bible and provided them for every resident who was faithful in attending Spiritual Enrichment programs provided under the IYM banner. These bibles were great success stories as the young men began having bible studies on their pods and actually some bibles needed replacement because they were worn out. We can only provide soft cover bibles because of security issues. It is our prayer and desire to once again provide these bibles to those who are faithful attendees of Spiritual Enrichment programs. Unfortunately, this time there are no big church donations. The IYM bank account is going to be able to afford 60 bibles. The rock bottom price for these books is at around $14.00. In 2007 they were $25; in 2008 we got them for $20. Our most recent check finds them available through “Bibles at Cost” for $14.00 price (approximately).
As stated, IYM is able to purchase 60; that is all the dollars we have for this expenditure. We would be overjoyed to be able to purchase twice that for a total of 120 bibles though there are 160 residents in the 2 facilities we serve. · We are asking that you prayerfully consider buying a minimum of one bible. We further ask that you would campaign for us at your home church for a love offering as well as with your personal contacts and fellow Christian friends. IYM is not and never has been in the business of campaign solicitations as we are primarily a self supporting organization. We only ask that you consider a donation so that those who are locked up may be given the ability to study the Word in depth. Remember, we are an all volunteer (servant) army; there is no compensation provided for those serving with IYM. As always, donations are tax exempt via our 501 C (3) tax exempt status. We will send you the donation mailing address when you respond with a wish to support this project. Thank you for your consideration! Peace and Grace, Bob Kirby-IYM Administration
